Thanks for stopping by! I thought it was important to formally welcome you to my site by sharing with you my thoughts as to why I've created it.
About a year ago, my various hard drives were getting fuller by the day with new and exciting experiences captured while living overseas. I was also beginning to steadily add health and fitness to my writing resume. Some of you may have visited my feelslikethirty blog, focused solely on my recent travels. The idea of an online photography and writing portfolio seemed like the next best step to display my evolving creativity.
taking a step back
As I was in the middle of making this site, however, certain unexpected but major, life events came and went, catapulting me into reflection over-drive. I took many pauses to analyze and re-analyze the purpose of this so-called project, at the same time to re-consider what's most important to me, what's worth investing time in, and what matters most.
I asked and re-asked myself many different questions, ultimately leading me to a more clearly and specifically define what I wanted out of this site, both for myself and my visitors. Although I haven't written anything in stone, I knew the world didn't need more posts about the '10 must-see things to do in X, Y and Z", or the "30 places you must visit before you're 30'. Anyone else tired of lists, lists and more lists?
I want this site it to be more than just a place to show you where I've been, and what I've seen, and definitely something more than a place to seek recognition for my images and words. Although likes and shares are nice, I want to have more of an impact.
I want to inspire you with the beauty that's around us all, in the everyday. In people, in places.
I especially want to invite you to seek out the beauty in nature around you, and to inspire you to get outside and move.
I want my adventures to light a spark for you to plan your own adventures, creating memories to cherish for a lifetime.
I'm excited to be pursuing this new creative path. From organizing my thoughts, to providing a place to reflect back on experiences good and bad, to inspiring me to continue to get out there. So I hope you stay awhile, come back often, and say hello from time to time.
